Faithful Citizenship

First Friday Adoration at the State Capitol January-May 2025

For the past two legislative session years, and for the foreseeable future, the Minnesota Catholic Conference (MCC) is doing Eucharistic Adoration in the Capitol on First Fridays of the month from January through May, 9 AM to 4 PM. Bringing our Lord into the Capitol is a powerful antidote to the attacks on the dignity of the human person that we see in public life.  His presence casts out fear and darkness. Adoration is also an opportunity to pray for our elected officials and for our state.  We believe that prayer works and invite you to join us.

Editorial: Marriage season is here

Amid all the splendor of a northern Minnesota summer, don’t miss one of its most beautiful aspects: weddings. It’s the time of year many couples choose to begin their lives together.

In our diocesan vocations prayer, alongside vocations to the priesthood, consecrated life, and permanent diaconate, we pray so often at Masses for an increase in “holy marriages in our diocese.” Society is undergoing a crisis of marriage and family. But it’s also true that the sacrament of marriage brings hope to society.

Interfaith advocacy for the poor and vulnerable makes an impact in 2023

Inside the Capitol

Catholic social teaching espouses a preferential option for the poor and vulnerable. In the public policy context, this means that policies should first be evaluated based on how they will affect those most in distress (Matthew 25). It also means that addressing the needs of the poor and vulnerable should be one of the most important priorities in the legislative process, at whatever level of government.

“Pilgrims of Hope” presented by King’s House Retreat Staff

The year 2025 is proclaimed a Jubilee Year by Pope Francis. This Holy Year is a time of special grace.

For many, when they hear the word Hope they think of a fond wish. When Christians hear the word Hope we think of a firm promise. As St. Paul proclaims in his letter to the Romans, Hope does not disappoint.

Our hope is in the person of Jesus Christ who has laid down his life and conquered sin and death. This hope is poured into our hearts through the gift of the Holy Spirit. You are invited to come to Christ the King during this time of grace to affirm your belief in the hope that is Jesus Christ, who can make sense of a hopeless world.

Includes Mass, personal prayer time, Reconciliation, Scriptural Rosary and a healing service. Per person: $50 deposit at registration and Suggested Donation of $225; includes 2 overnights, private accommodations and 5 meals; Register online at www.kingshouse.com or call 763-682-1394.
